I will not stand in the way of justice.

I will not be another obstacle or hurdle.

I will not begin to say, “I know exactly what you’re going through,” or “this is true in all communities.”

I will not compare our racisms.

I will not diminish your experiences because they make me uncomfortable.

I will not stay silent.

I will not let ignorance educate me.

I will not passively let bias or prejudice into my life.

I will not speak for you.

I will not be your savior.

I will not stay neutral.

I will not “give you permission,” or “allow you,” to fight as you don’t need it when advocating.

But, I will take action.

But, I will protest with you.

But, I will stand by you.

But, I will get tear gas in my eyes with you.

But, I will get shot by rubber bullets with you.

But, I will catch you when you fall.

But, I will help you back up.

But, I will hold your hand.

But, I will encourage you to continue fighting.

But, I will continuously educate myself.

But, I will advocate for justice and peace as you do.

But, I will represent you when you get charged while fighting for civil liberties.

But, I will vote for you to lead.

I will vote for you to win.

I will cry tears filled with rage when injustices occur.

I will continue my pursuit for social justice.

I will advocate with you – not for you.

I will rely on your experiences.

I will rely on your emotions.

I will rely on your strength as it inspires me to be better.

I will educate with you.

I will rely on your guidance.

I will be the ally you need me to be.
